finally…LOUD is out..!! this post is a little late because of the too-many-reasons-to state-here. first thing first. the lead single: Only Girl ( in the world). when i listened to it for the first time, i wasnt loving it. i thought it is just another up-tempo dance pop song, but possibly u will be hooked if u listen to it again again..(which i did^^). it is almost like an upgraded version of ‘Don’t stop the music’ with much richer beats and darker, sexier feels. but particularly her vocal impressed me, it is powerful and the strongest i ever heard from her. maybe i will sing along to a song like this but it is all about the first impression for it to be in my favorite list.
i thought all the pictures for the album are beautiful in its own exotic way even though there were some controversies arosed~
okay next. hmmm…believe me this album isn’t bad but it is not like how i hoped it to be. with the first track ‘S&M‘ being so lyrically explicit, i don’t know what to expect. i just cannot appreciate a music screaming about SEX like it is some kind of food. not that other artists doesnt do the same and yes i’m aware that rihanna’s ‘Rated R‘ album was even darker and explicit, i just thought it is not a good idea to keep singing about sex. imagine all those teenagers having fun with their friends singing this song,”

i just hope they will not end up having an unprotected sex at the end of the day. i may seem as an uptight person but what i care is all about the music, i can’t enjoy any other honest and lovely song in the album when the opener is all about sex.*sigh* ( maybe they should just make a special album called ‘SEX‘, all about sex songs for those who need it)
actually i’m not hyped to talk about each of the song because as individual song, there are fun & nice with Rihanna’s straight-to-the-money voice but as a whole album, i don’t know.
she said,
“Loud is, the word, the name of the album definitely reflects the attitude of it, it’s really sassy and flirty and it grabs your attention and that’s why I enjoy it. It takes you through a really really interesting ride. So colorful the album.”
yes so colorful, but i could not connect to it as a whole and for sure i will not put it on spin again and again. ( sory RiRi..i’m a fan though!)
the most thing i want to highlight is the obviously many repetition of words of expression in every song, which is the trend right now and the culture in KPOP but i don’t know why i find it annoying to listen to the whole album with that same pattern which i know it is supposedly to make people hooked and the song will just go round and round in people’s head. i make a list, because i am really concern about this…kekeke.
1. S & M : na na na na, come on, oh oh oh oh oh and obviously letter S & M which was repeated like 100 times? huhu
2. What’s My Name : ooh na na, what’s my name. ( this is a good song and just like a normal hit song when you listen to it on the radio, but because i am reviewing after my spin of this album, it can’t escape!)
3. Cheers (Drink To That) : obviously the ‘yeah yeah yeah’ sample from Avril’s I’m with you. but this one i like it because its Avril!
4. Fading : fading,fading, fading,..feh eh eh ding..away away awayyyyy.. today, today……………
5. Only Girl ( In the World) : at least this one sounds normal to me because i had already listened to it a lot as the lead single, but still a lot of repetition ‘like’ in a chorus and ‘only girl in the world’ ‘lalalala’ at the beginning and also in the bridge, words heavily repeated.
6. California King Bed : in the verse all the words are repeated twice. such an emotional song, but after listening to 5 songs with heavily repeated lyrics, i just thought when will this repetition going to end and i just hope for a beautifully written lyric ahead.
7. Man Down : Rum Bum Bum Bum & Oh mama… actually what are these things called? the rum bum bum, ooh lala laa, na na na…expression lyrics? whatever its official term, thats what i thought is annoying when overly used.. like for every song they try to think of what expression they want to use….arghhh. please not for the whole album!
8. Raining Men : eenie, meenie, minie, mo…and the’ ooh yeah yeah oo yeah yeah woah woahh argh watever…is it a verse of just expression..huhu. and more repetition in other parts…as i said, when u just listen to this single song or on a radio, its just normal, but for the whole album..?? annoying!!
9. Complicated : you’re not easy to love & sometimes…and the addition of ‘no ohh’…nice song and vocal though.
10. Skin : the background vocal and some parts of the song, find it yourself.
11. Love the Way You Lie (Part II) : no complaints…just love it!!!
overall, i really think that each song is good as a single song, the music and composition varies a lot, but the connection of all the tracks as what it means to be as one album i just don’t get it. it should be colorful but related to each other, but this album is a crazy kid, who doesn’t know her real-self, and how to express her feeling and desire at the right time and place.

~~California King, Complicated and Fading are about complicated relationship.
~~Man Down & Raining Men are about man-hating.
~~Cheers is all about partying.
~~what’s My Name is about a girl who doesn’t know her name..*kyaa*
~~ILTWYLpart2 is just awesomeness. rihanna’s verse brings more emotion and story to the song than just singing for chorus for part1, and eminem’s rap is MADNESS! completely intense! this is the example of the song i wouldn’t even need to observe lyrically and think too much and just fall in love in it!
in conclusion, the best thing in this album if i should say is Rihanna’s vocal. i think she improves a lot, especially her chest voice range and strength, and her head voice is just beautiful. well, no matter whatever review i write from my honest opinion, her singles are chart toppers proving how much there are well-received. still loving her “Good girl Gone bad” album though…next album be sure to please me RIRI..!!!^^ (and please no more special sound effect repetition words of expression for every songs..(umbrella ela ela still haunting us until today)
